Heritage Arms is a full gunsmith service and repair shop.
BARREL INSTALL & CHAMBERING
Precesion thread barrel tennon true to barrel bore centerline. Barrel face and shoulder parrallel to .0002 or less. Drill, bore true to bore centerline, within .0002, ream and polish chamber to the appropriate caliber and set head space near minimum specifications for best accuracy.
We use only top quality reamers from Dave Manson and Pacific tool and gage, common calibers will all be removable pilot type. We maintain records of how many chambers are done with each tool to ensure they are resharpened or replaced in a timely manner.
Our shop can thread the muzzle of your barrel to fit muzzle brakes, flash hiders or suppressors. We also have thread caps available to protect your barrel when you don’t have a devise installed. Common threads are ½-28, 5/8-24, ¾-20 and 1-14, but we can do specials at your request.
Our stock bedding process involves using an epoxy bedding compound designed especially for rifles. Pro Bed 2000 from Score high gunsmithing. We stress free bed your receiver, pillars if needed, rear tang, side rails, recoil lug and approximately 1” of the barrel tennon. This has proved time and time again to increase your rifles accuracy at a minimal expense. In some cases we can even bed your bottom metal for another level of perfection.
Our gunsmiths are skilled in reworking most original Remington triggers for a crisp clean repeatable break. This is achieved by completely disassembling your trigger, hand stoning and polishing all the internal components, reassembling and adjusting the sear engagement and fine tuning the trigger springs to achieve a safe but repeatable trigger pull. Some factory triggers vary from 4 ½ to 8 pounds of pull weight from shot to shot, we consistently get less than ½ pound variations from our tuned triggers and can safely set them to 3-3 ½ pounds.
If you have a custom trigger we are also well versed in cleaning and adjusting them within a safe range
We can CNC machine the inlet into your Remington 700 rifle stock, factory or most aftermarket stocks. To a near perfect fit. For example Bell and Carlson, McMillan, Greyboe, HS precision etc. The inletting we offer will fit our DBM as well as AICS, Badger ordnance, Surgeon, Seekins, PT&G, Battle Arms. We can do short actions as well as long actions.
The process is called pillar bedding because the rifle’s action is supported on non-compressible “pillars” that are rigidly bedded in the stock to help eliminate accuracy problems stemming from faulty, action-stressing, metal-to-wood fitting.
Using a precision lapping rod we add abrasive compounds and hand lap your scope rings true and straight for improved clamping and damage free holding of your fine optics, 80% or better contact in each ring. We can do all the basic sizes ¾”, 1”, 30 mm, 34mm.
We offer the modified recessed target type crown, each barrel is indicated in to less than .0002 centerline and square to the bore with the use of range rods, gage rods or indicating rods of the proper size. The crown is then single point machine cut to our precision specifications to ensure your bullets leave the barrel straight and true.
Basic package includes Lap locking lugs on bolt and receiver, Polish all trigger components and adjust trigger for creep and pull weight, Free float barrel channel in stock, glass bed receiver in to fit stock, level the scope and its base, mount scope.
Deluxe package includes, Blue print the action, and bolt, grind the recoil lug parallel, recut the chamber and throat of barrel, recut the crown of the barrel, Polish all trigger components and adjust trigger for creep and pull weight, Pillar and glass bed action to fit stock properly, Drill and tap action scope mounting holes to 8-40, lap scope rings, mount scope.
We offer several type of barrel fluting, straight line full radii .030 maximum depth 6 groove spiral line, right or left twist, full radii cut to a maximum of .030 depth 6 groove flat cut spiral octagon, right or left hand twist.
Our shop is capable of replacing your standard Remington 700 bolt handle with an aftermarket tactical style handle, it is slightly longer and threaded 5/16-24 for a tactical bolt knob. We can even thread your original Remington handle to accept a tactical knob.
If you prefer a Sako Style extractor in your Remington Rifle we can do all the necessary work. Sleeve the bolt face, cut the extractor slot and install the extractor. We commonly use Dave Tubbs and PT&G extractor kits.
